Tailoring Prices in Koh Samui
Fair, quote-based pricing. What a suit or shirt costs here depends on the cloth and the garment, so we quote before anything is cut.

Fabric
The biggest factor — weight, mill and fibre. Tropical-weight wool, linen, cotton, or premium wool/cashmere.
Garment
A shirt, a two- or three-piece suit, a tuxedo or a dress — each is a different piece of work.
Detailing
Construction, linings and finishing choices. More hand-work, more time.
Quantity
Ordering a set (or a suit with shirts) is the best value per piece.
What you are actually paying for
Two suits can carry the same price tag and be entirely different objects. It is worth knowing where the money goes, because it is the only way to compare quotes on this island meaningfully.
The cloth
Usually the largest single variable, and it can swing a quote more than any other choice. A serviceable tropical-weight wool and a fine Super 150s from a well-known mill are not close in cost. Neither is a mistake — but one is for a suit you will wear weekly and the other for a suit you will wear at a wedding. Our the cloth guide explains what the weights and Super numbers actually mean.
The construction
This is the invisible one, and the one most price comparisons miss. A fully canvassed jacket has a floating horsehair layer stitched in by hand; a fused jacket has interfacing glued to the cloth. Fused is significantly cheaper and quicker, stiffer to wear, warmer in this climate, and can bubble at the lapel over the years. If one quote is much lower than another, this is usually why. Ask.
The hand-work
Hand-finished buttonholes, a hand-padded lapel roll, a hand-set collar. Each is time, and time is most of a tailor's cost. None of it changes how a suit looks on day one; all of it changes how it looks in year three.
The number of fittings
A fitting is a skilled hour plus the corrections that follow. A quote with one fitting and a quote with two are not the same offer.
What each choice moves
Cloth moves a quote further than anything else, and construction moves it more than most people expect. The table sets the four factors against each other in relative terms — we quote at the fitting rather than publishing a list, so these are proportions, not prices.

Read it as a ladder rather than a menu. Two quotes that look far apart are usually a cloth-and-construction difference, not a mark-up — which is what what a tailored suit costs in Thailand sets out in more detail.
How to compare two quotes properly
Ask both tailors the same five questions and the prices become comparable:
- Is the jacket fused, half-canvassed or fully canvassed?
- What does the cloth weigh, and which mill is it from?
- How many fittings are included, and what does another cost?
- Is the body lined, half-lined or unlined?
- What happens if it does not fit properly once I am home?
A tailor who answers all five without hedging is telling you something useful regardless of the number at the end.
Where you can save, and where you should not
Worth economising on: the mill. A mid-range cloth in the right weight and weave will serve you better in this climate than a prestigious name in the wrong weight. Also the number of pieces — order two shirts, wear them, then order the rest.
Not worth economising on: construction and fittings. A fused jacket saves money once and costs you the garment. Skipping the fitting saves an afternoon and produces a suit you do not reach for.
The most common regret we hear is from people who bought a rushed, fused suit somewhere on the island for a holiday and are now paying for alterations to what you own. A suit you already own can usually be altered. The cheapest suit is the one you actually wear.
Suit, shirt, or alteration
The three move on different things, which is why one price list cannot describe them.

This is also why a quote for one tells you very little about the others. Ask for all three at once if you want all three.
Why there is no price list
A fixed list would either overcharge someone ordering a simple shirt or undersell someone ordering a three-piece in premium cloth — and it would tempt us to quote a headline number that only applies to the cheapest cloth in the shop. That is a common tactic here and we would rather not participate in it.

You confirm the quote before work starts, and nothing is cut until you are happy with the cloth, the plan and the number. If a finished garment is not right, tell us — corrections to our own work are part of the job, not an extra. If you have already flown home, message us; adjustments can often be handled remotely against the pattern we hold on file.

How much does a bespoke suit cost in Ko Samui?
It depends mostly on the fabric and the garment. A made-to-measure shirt is the most affordable piece; a fully bespoke suit sits higher, and premium cloths (fine wool, cashmere, linen blends) raise it further. Why don't you list fixed prices?
Because bespoke isn't off-the-rack. The same suit can vary a lot depending on the cloth you choose, the number of pieces, linings and detailing. A fixed price list would either overcharge simple orders or undersell premium ones. A quick quote is fairer and takes two minutes.
What drives the price of a tailored garment?
Four things, in roughly this order: the fabric (weight, mill and fibre, which is the largest single variable), the garment (a shirt against a two-piece, three-piece or tuxedo), the construction and detailing, which covers canvas against fusing and how much finishing is done by hand, and the quantity, since ordering a set is better value per piece than ordering one at a time. Turnaround can move a figure too, because a genuine rush reorders the workshop around your flight.
Is a quote free?
Yes, free and with no obligation. Tell us the garment, the cloth and roughly the look you want, in the shop or by WhatsApp from your hotel, and you will have an exact number within minutes. Nothing is cut until you have agreed it. If you want to take that figure to another shop on the island and compare, that is a reasonable thing to do and we would rather you did it than wondered.
Do you offer better value on multiple pieces?
Yes. Ordering several garments together is usually better value per piece, because the measuring happens once and the fittings can be combined rather than repeated. A suit with a couple of shirts is the most common order of this kind, and a wedding party is the largest. Tell us the whole order at the first visit rather than adding to it later, because the schedule and the figure both depend on knowing the full picture.
How do I get a quote before I arrive on the island?
Message us with what you want made, roughly when you arrive and when you fly out, and any fabric preference you already have. We can give you a realistic range from that and tell you what is achievable in your window, which is often the more useful half of the answer. The exact figure is settled once you have chosen the actual cloth, because that is the single biggest variable in any tailoring quote.
Does the price change after I have been measured?
The quote is settled once you have chosen the cloth and the garment, and the fittings that follow are part of making it rather than extras added afterwards. What does change a figure is you changing the order, asking for a different cloth, a waistcoat you had not planned or a second pair of trousers. If that happens we tell you at the time, not at collection. If your budget is fixed, say so first.
Why is there such a wide price range between Ko Samui tailors?
Almost all of it comes from things you cannot see once the garment is finished: whether the jacket is canvassed or fused, how many fittings are included, the quality of the cloth and lining, and how much of the finishing is done by hand. A quote well below the rest of the market usually means a fused jacket and one fitting. That is a legitimate product, but it is a different one, so compare inclusions rather than headline numbers.
