How we work

We work by doing all of it on the premises, which is a practical difference between tailors here rather than a claim about quality.

What we mean by "made here"

Ko Samui has a lot of tailors, and they do not all work the same way. Some take your measurements and send them elsewhere to be made. We measure, cut and finish on the premises, which is not a boast so much as a practical difference: when a fitting shows something needs changing, the garment is in the next room, not in another province. A correction takes an hour rather than a week.

It also means the person who advises you on cloth is the person accountable for how the garment turns out. That is the whole reason the review book reads the way it does.

Why the fit takes a fitting

Measurements get a garment close. They cannot tell you that one shoulder sits lower than the other, that you stand slightly forward, or that your arms hang a few degrees off the vertical — and almost everybody has at least one of those. The fitting is where a suit stops being a set of numbers and starts being yours.

It is also the step most often skipped by shops promising a suit in a few hours. We would rather tell you honestly that your timeline is tight than hand you something that looks right in our mirror and wrong in your photographs a month later. Built for this climate, not a catalogue

Most tailoring advice online is written for temperate countries. At around 30°C and over 70% humidity, a cloth that counts as a "summer weight" in Europe is often far too heavy here, and a fully lined, fused jacket becomes something you carry rather than wear.

So we steer clients toward tropical-weight cloth in high-twist weaves, half-lined or unlined bodies, and canvassed rather than glued construction — because glue does not breathe and, in this humidity, eventually fails. That advice occasionally costs us a sale to someone who wanted the cashmere. We give it anyway. The reasoning is set out in full in our fabric guide.

What that means for you

What that means for you depends on which job you need doing, because the same workshop answers to several different names in a week.

What we are, in plain terms

Depending on what you need, we are a custom tailor, a bespoke tailor, a made-to-measure tailor, a dressmaker, a formal-wear store and a tuxedo shop — and, most weeks, a clothing alterations service for people who just want a jacket to fit. Those are the categories we are listed under on Google, and they are all genuinely things we do rather than boxes ticked. If you are not sure which of them describes what you want, message us and describe the garment instead.

We use two of those words precisely. Bespoke means a pattern drafted for you from scratch and kept on file. Made-to-measure means a close base pattern adapted to your measurements. Both are made for you; they differ in where the work goes, and in cost. We will tell you which one a given garment justifies rather than selling the more expensive word.

Who we make for

Four groups, most weeks. Visitors on a deadline, who want a wardrobe made before they fly home and need honest timelines more than they need promises. Grooms and wedding parties, where the job is as much coordination as tailoring — see wedding & groom suits. Expats and residents, who come back for alterations and a new shirt every few months and are the reason we are still here in low season. And returning clients ordering from abroad, using the pattern we cut for them years ago.

Your pattern stays with us

Once we have cut for you, your pattern and measurements are kept on file. That is what turns one holiday visit into a long relationship: a second suit, more shirts or a replacement pair of trousers can be ordered from anywhere and shipped to you. We will ask you to confirm a couple of measurements first, because bodies change and we would rather ask than guess.

The reviews are the argument

We could describe the work. It is more useful to point at 578 reviews at 5.0 and let the people who paid for the work describe it instead. They are on our reviews page with links to the originals on Google, so you can check any of them.

Other tailors on the island carry more reviews than we do. What we would rather you read is the detail: whether people mention the fitting, whether anyone describes something going wrong, and what happened next.
